Photographing the other photographersWednesday, February 3rd, 2010

I absolutely love to photograph the people with their point and shoot cameras. They may not have the big cameras that I carry but their photographs are just as important. And I don’t mind if people photograph over my shoulder cause I know my version will blow away what they might capture. Just saying.

But I love to focus on the LCD screen of the camera and capture this kind of scene. I think it is artistic, unique, and fun.

Everyone has amazing camerasTuesday, January 5th, 2010

More and more I see big cameras around the necks of people attending weddings – and I think that is so cool. Maybe I should be afraid that the wedding photography industry is going to dry up and everyone will have their uncle photograph their wedding. That does happen – but I am not concerned because their uncle’s don’t have my mad skills, lol.

And to be totally honest – I think more people should have big cameras – I am a fan of camera gears and I love to share what I know with anyone who asks. And I might even pick their brains and learn things myself.

Three Winks Studio – and Stacy YoungMonday, December 21st, 2009

Just wanted to tell you about another favorite photographer – Stacy Young of Three Winks Studio is just awesome. I will make up a statistic right now and say that only 4% of all photographers go to college to learn their craft – and Stacy is one of them. She really captures natural photographs of people and is extremely talented.

I had to opportunity to second shoot a wedding with Stacy – the one wedding where it rained and rained and rained and rained some more. And here she demonstrates the proper way to hold a camera.

And Stacy never knew it but I first met her a few years ago when she had a booth at the Avenues Street fair – and it was then that I was inspired to try and learn the art of photography and someday have my own photo business. Woo hoo!
