My Brother is Getting Married (He’s the Youngest in the Family)Monday, October 17th, 2011

My youngest brother is getting married! He will be marrying Kelli Jo this December in the Salt Lake Temple a few days before Christmas. And I get to be the photographer – even better news ;)

We will be having engagements, bridals, formals and then of course the wedding day itself. Kelli Jo mentioned that they better be featured on my blog and of course they will be. They are a cute couple and they definitely complement each other. Kelli Jo is studying teaching at BYU and my brother is in the Air Force ROTC with the goal to become a fighter pilot.

I will be blogging more of their photos in the coming weeks – I just wanted to post this preview photograph first.

We were just arriving to the park when the sun was setting and the sky was starting to explode in a beautiful array of orange, red, and blue. I have never set up my lights and my camera as quickly as I did yesterday. Within minutes we had this photograph created and we took a few more as the sunset. The sunset didn’t last too long but just enough for some amazing photographs.

Emily’s BridalsTuesday, August 17th, 2010

I had the opportunity to help out with a bridal session with my friend Brian Gordon. He was photographing a beautiful bride down in Provo, Utah and he asked if I would like to tag along and play the role of assistant and as a second shooter. It was a lot of fun and he gave me some opportunity to photograph Emily as well. Here are some of my favorite photographs.

Since there were two photographers we would take turn using a reflector and an off camera speedlite for the photos. We photographed next to the Provo Tabernacle (there is a small grassy park with some wonderful sunlight). We then finished our photo shoot at the Utah County Courthouse.

Since we were in front of the courthouse and they have some long stone staircases we thought it would be fun to recreate the story of Cinderella losing her slipper. And since Emily’s shoe is golden it really helps create a fun photograph.

Autumn LeavesThursday, November 5th, 2009

Every once in a while I will post non-wedding related photographs on my blog. These photographs I took at lunch – and I think they are just so cool. The first photograph is of a red leaf with a lady bug (two actually).

And these leaves are represent all the colors I associate with autumn. And I love the shallow depth of field in these photographs. So I hope you folks enjoy the photographs. I love the change of seasons and capturing them with photography is just a bonus.

Preview of today's bridal photography at the Provo Castle

Preview of today's bridal photography at the Provo Castle

A little while ago I petitioned anyone who wanted some post-wedding bridals. I am working on building a portfolio so I can feature some amazing photos on my website and blog. So here is a preview photograph – more will come later after I edit them this week.

Jennifer was married back in January in San Diego. She had another photographer photograph her wedding and I did have the chance to edit her wedding album. She jumped at the opportunity to have some bridals. These were taken at the Provo Castle and there are some amazing photographs. I had to share this one to whet the appetite.

This photograph is with natural light and I over exposed it. And then gave the photograph a look as if it was from SX-70 polaroid film. The nice thing about digital photography is you can make it look like film. And give it a classic look. Isn’t she gorgeous?!
