For the 3rd year in a row I was voted as the Best Photographer/Studio by the readers of QSalt Lake Magazine. Hooray!
To be honest, contests like this mean little. There are great photographers who never win awards and there are photographers who aren’t that great – yet win contests. And I really don’t want to be judged as good or bad by popular vote.
My guess on why the voters did select me? I am out in the community constantly creating photographs. I have been the official photographer for Utah Pride for the past several year. I have photographed numerous fundraisers, political events, rallies, weddings and commitment ceremonies. I get a lot of exposure with the LGBT community. In my view it is a way to give back to the community.
