Wedding Photography and Political Protests Don’t Often Mix

Ok, I found this a bit off the wall crazy. I was at the Utah State Capitol to photograph a political rally (I like to play photojournalist and activist on occasion). While the rally was taking placed I noticed a bride and groom were having their formal wedding portraits created. I felt bad for the couple and the photographer. They probably assumed that the capitol would be empty and that they could create some amazing photographs.

Well, sometimes luck goes the other way. I am sure the photographer they hired was able to make everything work out in the end. When I left, the rally was starting to break up and head home. Although before I left I had to take a few candid behind the scenes photographs. I absolutely love this photo of the bride and groom holding each other and surveying the protest rally. This really tells a tale that I am sure they will remember for ever.
