Yep, another geek moment – but this is important! I bought an Expodisc – well I bought 2 expodiscs. Why? So I can get great color from my photographs – and so a white wedding dress looks white and not yellow, or blue.
Digital cameras are getting really good at reproducing color and contrast of the real world – but they are far from perfect. And if your wedding dress is white, or egg shell, or ivory then you want your dress to look like that in the photographs. I have been pretty good at getting the colors right – there are times where it can be a bit tricky. And that is why I have purchased some expodiscs. If I use these properly I can get accurate color in challenging situations and everyone will look amazing. And I will be practicing with these ever day for at least a month till they are second nature.
In the photograph below you can see that one photograph can have several colors depending on the light. So whether we are photographing with day light, fluorescent, tungsten, or a mix of light I will get better color. Woo hoo! And if I get it right in camera while photographing I won’t have to spend as much time in Photoshop fixing lighting and color issues.
Another geek note… as a photographer I will always photograph in the RAW file format. This gives me complete control over the color balance. If photos look a bit yellow I can easily change that and remove the yellow color cast.
I think I will stop geeking out and will probably publish a few wedding photographs next blog post – be sure to stop by and check them out!
