Here is my next epic wedding album that I just finished designing late last night. We had sat down to review the first round of changes and then I went to work to update the album. It is helpful to take a few days to put the album design on the back burner and come back with fresh eyes.
The brides, Amy & Julianne, are very excited for the album. They are planning on a 12 inch leather album. Their package will also include a copy of the photographs on a disk – so they can share the images with friends and family online. They will also be able to make prints in the future. Wondering what wedding packages that I have? Contact me.
We started the wedding album with some photographs I had created several years ago – these were photographed at the International Peace Garden in Salt Lake City, Utah.
We then pick up in Vermont in October 2010 with a number of photographs from their mini-vacation before the wedding. They visited the Vermont Teddy Bear factory, the Cabot Cheese Factory, a Winery, and the Cider Mill. I was able to hang out with them for a few days to create these photographs. And they certainly are important for the wedding album.
They also wanted to feature the Phineas Swann Bed & Breakfast on two spreads – one is dedicated to the building and the rest were dedicated to the delicious breakfasts. I am sure I could create a whole book about the Bed & Breakfast.
These are an assortment of photographs of the game night with family and friends and Julianne went with a few of us to Canada while Amy visited some family. Canada was really cool – I want to go back!
And having two brides in one bridal suite made it really easy to photograph the hair, makeup and other preparations for the wedding.
And I love, love, love the formal wedding photos.
Photographing a wedding with the album in mind is definitely a different experience. I now will take several photographs in horizontal and vertical positions so we have the angles and variety that will then fit a two page spread.
And for the wedding album I went with a number of colors. I usually try to get 3 colors I can use together and in this case I think I had about 6 colors from orange, lilac, purple, burgundy, and related colors. I also love to add a touch of fancy such as swirls, loops and other shapes.
Some spreads will have one amazing photograph while others will have 2-3 related photographs. Others may have a number of photos: 10+ Each spread will have related images to help tell the story of the wedding day.
And group photographs are always important – they may not be the most exciting photographs but they are among the most important. I think I will need to find ways to make group photographs more compelling and more exciting.
Not ever wedding has a cake cutting, bouquet toss or garter belt removal. Depending how the photographs turn out I will have them on their own spread or I may combine them.
I love, love, love this series of photos in the wedding album. Julianne were just holding each other while talking with guests and Amy gets a little bit emotional which is journalist gold!
The last spread of the album can be the most important. Whether it is a sign saying just married or in this case a few more formal wedding portraits. It is the last chapter of the wedding album.
