Wolf Creek Bride and Groomwritten by dav.d
I love being a second shooter for other wedding photographers. Don’t get me wrong – I love being THE photographer at a wedding. But I love the more the merrier philosophy. I also try my best to stay out of the way of the main photographer. Some of my basic rules – some of which I learned the hard way:
- Don’t shoot over the shoulder of the main photographer – they don’t need more of the same shot
- Don’t interrupt the flow of the main photographer
- A fly on the wall uses a different lens than the main photographer – if they grab a wide angle lens then grab a telephoto lens
- If they ask you to do something – do it!
- Ask the main photographer if you can try something different – like shoot an HDR
These photographs were taken at a Wolf Creek wedding this summer – and I was using my second camera to take these. My primary camera was sitting on a tripod for some HDR photographs. I will share those in another blog post. The main photographer was shooting with her fisheye lens – so I had my telephoto camera and was grabbing these amazing photographs.
