Looking back at the decade of digital photographywritten by dav.d
The end of the year – and especially the end of the decade is always a big time for looking back and creating lists. I am not about to create a list of the top things of the decade – but I did find an advertisement for my first digital camera ever. It is the Panasonic PV-SD4090. It has a catchy name doesn’t it?
This camera weighed in at 1.3 megapixels and it used a “superfloppy” disk to store photographs. I bought this back in 2000 and it was so cool back then. It went the way of the dinosaur when sand from an outdoor activity into jammed everything.
Digital technology will always continue to improve and evolve – and photography will continue to improve and evolve. It is always fun to see what is the next cool and neat toy. Right now? I think film is the next frontier – people like me are starting to discover that film can be unique and a fun challenge. At lunch I think I may grab my Holga with ISO 400 Tri-x black and white film. THAT is so much more high tech than the Panasonic PV-SD4090. (I am joking – but not by much).
