Busy Redesigning Websiteswritten by dav.d
I can’t leave well enough alone. Yesterday I made some minor design changes to this website – today I did a major overhaul to my other website. I have two websites – this my wedding website – and then I have my other website with is everything else.
It is definitely a benefit to have a background in web design – for one I can manage my own websites. And second I think a design background gives me a unique vision into photography. More and more I try to take photographs as if they are going to be part of a design or what they should look like in a magazine spread. This means creating photographs that can have text laid over the image. Negative space, white space, rule of thirds, color scheme and more all play a factor in graphic design, web design and photography.
It pays to specialize – although I love being a master of many different skills. And I completely believe that general knowledge helps me specialize even more. Much like knowledge of sports photography can help a photographer photograph a wedding. Sometimes weddings feel fast paced like a basketball game.
Smashing Book
I just received in the mail a new book – I will try to read this as soon as possible. Finding time to read a book that is not an audiobook can be a challenge. But it is all about websites. And it is important for me to hone my website skills so I can keep up on my day job – but I can also create a fantastic website here.
Yes, I know, another book to read – but I swear I will read this – and I won’t read it while driving. Driving and reading is reserved for audiobooks.
