Do you like cliché or common wedding photography?written by dav.d
Question: Do you like chiché or trendy wedding photography?
Reason I ask – I saw an article where several wedding photographers bemoan some of the requested photographs from wedding photographers. One example is below – we have a photograph turned into black and white – except for the wedding bouquet. This seems to be a favorite special effect amoung brides, mother of the bride and others. However, photographers sometimes roll their eyes when they are asked to create this kind of photograph.

Other cliché photographs would be the wedding party jumping into the air, or where the groomsmen hold the bride, or even dancing the electric slide. Are these just traditional to wedding photography? Do do you think it is a bit cheesy?
My guess is that some people like the traditional special effects – and some people want to be more natural and don’t want anything cliché or even traditional for their wedding. Perhaps photographers have grown tired of the same photographs every single wedding. Maybe I shouldn’t be talking about this – lol.
I do remember photographing one wedding party and suggesting the groomsmen jump in the air – and they looked at me with so much disdain that I realized – that wasn’t their thing. Which is completely cool.
I even created a poll! So vote!
