Thanksgiving – it’s like Christmas – in November! And it really is a most excellent holiday. My family gathered down at my parents’ house in Orem, Utah for dinner. My brothers from Arizona were able to come up with my nephew and niece. We were only missing 2 brothers – one in North Carolina (Paul) and one brother serving a Mormon mission in Taiwan (Jonathan – he returns home next month).
What am I thankful for this day? Family. It is a lot of fun to have the family gather under one roof and just hang out. With 5 grandkids in the house it can be quite noisy. And it is my job to photograph and document the family. So I hope you enjoy some photographs of my family. The full gallery of photographs are on my SmugMug page.

There was a lot of potato making – I think at one point everyone was involved in peeling the potatoes and making sure they were ready for the mashing. Even my dad helped out – because he had a gadget that would help out.

Yes, I know that cranberry sauce in a can is probably not the classiest thing on the menu. This stuff is good though – it had whole cranberries – not just the cranberry paste that was so popular in the “old days.” I feel so old as I reminisce, lol. But having had sooo many Thanksgiving dinners in so many different locations – including the Philippines and Puerto Rico – it is the memories with families that we cherish the most.

Cranberry sauce! (from a can - but is is sooo good)

And I love this photograph – it has my sister comforting her daughter Julianne. Moms are the peacemakers in the family.

Thanksgiving isn’t complete without Cool Whip – or some kind of whip topping.

To distract the kids we did go on a walk (run) around the block. Henry had to run to keep up with everyone else. And he liked to stop and look at things. And as uncle with the camera I had to take the photos.
